After participating in this many events, my impression of the EAC is that it is truly a chamber for all businesses, a chamber that values my little company as much as the biggest industries in the area."

Event Details

Cooties to Campfire Girls - New Exhibit at Old Main

The Elgin Area Historical Society announces the opening of a new exhibit: Cooties to Campfire Girls: A Look at Elgin Organizations. Through photos, textiles and objects from the Museum's collection the exhibit highlights civic, service and philanthropic groups. Included also are military, fraternal, special interest, youth and athletic organizations. On display are an Elgin Skating Club warming robe, VFW Cooties uniform, an Elgin Hawaiian Guitar Band uniform, a Red Cross uniform, Campfire Girls ceremonial dress, and a Lions Club vest. The exhibit explains how important clubs and organizations are to the Elgin community. Cooties to Campfire Girls is on exhibit through December 31, 2006. The Museum is open Wednesday-Saturday, Noon to 4:00 pm. Visitors can also view the five permanent exhibits-Elgin's Beginnings, Elgin Architecture, Hiawatha Pageant, Elgin Road Races and the Elgin Watch Factory and visit the Museum's gift shop, a nominal entrance fee is charged.
