EducationElgin Schools can boast of many examples of educational excellence. School District U-46, the second largest district in Illinois, is one of those examples. It offers the most comprehensive K-12 public school program available in the Fox Valley. Community Unit School District 300 and District 301 also serve areas of Elgin, primarily on the north and west sides. Several excellent private and parochial schools provide alternatives to public schools. Parents of preschool children may choose from a number of private childcare centers throughout the city. Higher education is a priority in Elgin, and the city is fortunate to have so many opportunities for students to pursue their dream. Elgin Community College is one of the largest community colleges in the 51- college Illinois system. Judson College is a Christian coeducational institution and offers numerous degree programs. Webster University offers accelerated graduate degree - evening and online. Keller Graduate School of Management and National-Louis University both offer evening classes at their facility in Elgin.
