The first annual Ecker Center Outsider Art Show and Sale is scheduled for September 20th at the Elgin Artspace Lofts Gallery, 51 S. Spring St., Elgin. Featured will be works showcasing a variety of mediums and (for the most part) all rendered by Ecker Center clients.
Simply defined, outsider art is by self-taught or naive art makers, Typically, those labeled as Outsider Artists have little or no prior contact with the mainstream art world or art institutions. Often Outsider Art illustrates extreme mental states, unconventional ideas, or eleborate fantasy worlds. (Info from Wikipedia).
Admission is open to the public, free and includes a complimentary wine and cheese reception in honor of our participating client artists.
