    Grants Manager

    PADS of Elgin is committed to providing safe shelter, support services, and compassionate advocacy to the homeless men, women and children of Dundee, Elgin, and Hanover Townships. PADS provides guests with a safe place to sleep, showers, laundry facilities, nutritious meals/snacks and case management to help guide them towards a path to self-sufficiency.     Position Summary

    This position is responsible for all grant writing, reporting, and locating new sources of revenue associated with the organization’s operations. The Grants Manager will work closely with the Bookkeeper and Payroll to monitor grant spending and fiscal requirements. This position will require collaboration with both the Development Manager and the Executive Director to increase contributions from donors, local businesses, and corporate outreach.
    Position Type: Full-Time, exempt
    Reports To: Executive Director
    Hours: 40 hours
    Salary: $40,000 - $45,000/year, depending on experience

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for completing all grant applications and proposal writing
    • Manage portfolio of current grants, while conducting research for new sources of funding from individuals, foundations, and government prospects
    • Completion of all monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reporting
    • Monitoring of annual budget, grant spending, and compliance with fiscal-related grant requirements
    • Work directly with the Executive Director and Case Manager Supervisor regarding performance and service reporting
    • Build and maintain relationships with service partners, funders, and government contacts

    • Assist in locating and obtaining corporate sponsorships for fundraising events • In conjunction with the Development Manager, maintain regular correspondence with foundations and donors and assist in building and maintaining those relationships • Monitor social media accounts in tandem with Development Manager and designated staff

    • Be an advocate for PADS of Elgin; write and communicate knowledgeably and enthusiastically about the PADS mission, programs, initiatives and be able to articulate how our organization makes a difference in our community
    • Assistance around the shelter as needed • All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required, Master’s preferred
    • 2-3 years of experience working in a non-profit or similar setting
    • Excellent written communication skills
    • Ability to conduct research
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to speak publicly when required for grants, events, or public relations.
    • Must be computer literate - experience with grant databases preferred
    • Highly organized and self-motivated; works well under pressure and is able to handle several projects at one time
    • Ability to meet all grant application and reporting deadlines
    • Able to use good judgment and identify changing program needs
