    Governor Pritzker Joins Boeing to Announce $200 Million Investment to Launch Production of New
    U.S. Navy Aircraft in Metro East
     
     
     
     
    Landing the state’s latest aviation win, today Governor JB Pritzker joined Boeing to announce the company’s new $200 million state-of-the-art facility which is set to bring up to 300 jobs to the region in the years ahead.
     
    This high-tech facility will house production of the MQ-25 Stingray, the U.S. Navy’s first carrier-based unmanned aircraft. Construction on the 291,000 square-foot facility at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport, St. Clair County, is scheduled to begin later this year.
     
    To support Boeing’s investments, DCEO provided support with an EDGE agreement and has directed Rebuild Illinois capital funds to support terminal facility and taxiway upgrades at MidAmerica Airport.     Kicking off 2021’s National Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM) this week, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) joined community and business leaders at the new Rockford Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to celebrate national “Support Latino Business Day,” and encourage residents to support the 112,000+ Latinx and Hispanic businesses throughout the state.
     
    Throughout the month-long celebration, DCEO is teaming up with industry leaders like Groupon, chambers of commerce, civic groups, and small business owners to host a series of events focused on connecting new and existing businesses with the resources they need for success.
     
    What’s more, DCEO’s Office of Tourism has developed two detailed itineraries.
    Explore and enjoy a variety of Hispanic-owned businesses throughout the cities of Peoria and the Quad Cities along with Rockford and the Chicago Area.

    Institute of Maintenance
     
     
     
     
    In a move to bolster the Illinois’ soaring aviation industry, this week Governor JB Pritzker joined the Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) and local officials in welcoming its largest training campus to Chicago's McKinley Park community. With support from the State of Illinois, the new AIM campus will expand access to cutting-edge aviation training programs, while will paving the way to well-paying careers, increased diversity in the industry, and a pipeline of talent that Illinois’ own global aviation leaders AAR and United can count on to meet their future demands.
     
    The 137,00 square-foot campus brings a $10 million capital investment, while landing 75 permanent jobs for the community. Read more
     
     
     
     
    Navy Pier, Chicago’s Iconic Lakefront Destination
    Announces Chicago Live!
     
     
    Celebrating a return to the stage, this week Navy Pier announced it will host the “Chicago Live! Again” celebration, a free outdoor cultural festival on September 24 and 25. With support from DCEO’s Tourism Attractions and Festivals Grant Program, visitors will enjoy performances from Broadway in Chicago, The Joffrey Ballet, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago and more. “Chicago Live! Again” brings the city’s most iconic arts and entertainment performers together for the first time since the pandemic hit.
     
    With funding now available, learn about the $10 million Tourism Attractions and Festivals Grant Program designed to revitalize the hard-hit tourism industry by bringing back new and returning tourism attractions and festivals.  
     
    $282M State Small Business Credit Initiative RFI
     
    DCEO has issued a request for information (RFI) for stakeholders to submit non-price information about programs that may be carried out using funding from the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI).
     
    SSBCI’s objective is to support state-level small business financing and technical assistance programs to improve access to capital for small businesses and business enterprises owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals (SEDI business).
     
    Responses are encouraged to provide feedback on the needs of SSBCI’s focus populations such as SEDI businesses, the eligible programs best suited to meet these needs, program design and structure, and availability of technical assistance, services, and technology to support program implementation.
     
    The State of Illinois has received an allocation of $282 million from the $10 billion that was included for SSBCI in the American Rescue Plan Act. The deadline to submit a RFI response is September 30, 2021 and the RFI can be accessed at BidBuy.
