• Construction Jobs Boom in Many US States and Cities

    Prior to the pandemic, there was a surge in the number of people working in construction jobs in recent years, often outpacing the growth in employment overall in many states.
     
    While employment likely fell at the onset of the coronavirus, there remain many more openings than people to fill them today. Indeed, the construction industry faces a shortfall of 200,000 workers, according to a report released in April by the Home Builders Institute.

    Here's a look at which states added the most construction jobs from 2015 to 2020 and which metropolitan areas saw the most growth relative to employment overall.
