    Adopt-A-Senior Program is Back!

Aging Services is proud to offer the annual Adopt-A-Senior program once again. Adopt-A-Senior provides thoughtful care packages of much needed personal care essentials and a few gift items to low income older adults in the Township. Make a meaningful difference in the life of an older adult in Hanover Township. Each care package is created by generous donations from community members and include needed items such as toiletries, cleaning products, clothes or gift cards.

Beginning Monday, October 26, donations of paper products, cleaning supplies or gift cards will be accepted. Donations can be dropped off outside the main entrance of the Senior Center in the box labeled "Adopt-A-Senior Collection Box". Checks can be made payable to "Hanover Township". Please call (630) 483-5660 to notify Aging Services that a gift item will be dropped off.

Beginning Monday, November 2, the Giving Tree will be displayed in the Senior Center lobby. Each tag displayed will represent a requested item to purchase for a senior in need. This year, in the interest of everyone's safety, the Giving Tree will be available Monday, Wednesday and Friday by appointment only. Anyone entering the Senior Center will be required to wear a face covering and complete a health screening form and temperature check. Gloves and hand sanitizer
will be available to sort through the tags.

If interested in purchasing an item listed on the Giving Tree,
please call Social Services at (630) 483-5660.

All gifts must be returned to the Senior Center by Monday, November 30.

Spots Still Available for Fall Tutoring

As youth advance in school, homework assignments get tougher; especially in math and reading. Hanover Township’s Tutoring Program aims at guiding students to become successful independent learners. The Township’s small tutoring groups encourage children to ask questions and teach them how to best learn at their own pace. Certified tutors use today’s teaching methods and specialize in assisting students with academic comprehension, mastery of skills, and homework completion. Tutoring groups are developed based on age, subject matter, and learning needs that are identified by referring teachers. Children who attend regularly and bring their school materials/assignments to each session improve in academic performance and become more self-confident.

The fall semester Tutoring Program starts on
Tuesday, October 1 and runs through December 10.

For questions about the Hanover Township tutoring program, or to register, please call (630) 483-5799 or click here.
