Elgin Area CVB Board Announces New LeadershipJuly 12, 2018
The Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau’s board announced Krisilee Murphy as the new Executive Director and Hratch Basmadjian from the Holiday Inn Chicago Northwest – Elgin as the new Board Chair.
Murphy, who served as the bureau’s Director of Marketing for nine years, will be responsible for overseeing the entire organization including creating new, strategic marketing plans designed to stimulate the Elgin Area tourism industry.
She currently sits on various boards and committees around the community including: YWCA Elgin Board, Downtown Neighborhood Association’s Promotions Committee, Enhancing Elgin with the Elgin Development Group, Alignment Collaboration for Education Operating Board and serves as Secretary for Market Illinois.
Murphy has a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University. She began her career in Elgin in 2009 as an intern for the City of Elgin Special Events Department and the EACVB’s Sales Department.
“I am grateful to the Elgin Area CVB board for giving me this opportunity. I look forward to working closely with the City of Elgin to promote the area as a tourist destination and grow the #ExploreElgin brand,” said Murphy.
Basmadjian has been the General Manager of the Holiday Inn Chicago Northwest – Elgin since 2011. He has served on the Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau board since 2011 and has over 20 years of experience serving on other tourism boards.

The Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau serves 9 communities including Elgin, Bartlett, Carpentersville, East Dundee, Gilberts, Hampshire, Sleepy Hollow, South Elgin and West Dundee.
