    $15 Million in Additional Funding to Support
    Local Festivals and Tourism Across the State  
     
     
    Today, Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced $15 million in additional funding to support tourism sectors across Illinois through the second round of the Tourism Attraction and Festivals Grant Program which is designed to support communities hardest-hit by the pandemic.     Iconic Illinois Company - Eli's Cheesecake -
    Breaks Ground on Expansion
     
     
     
     
    This week Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton and DCEO Director Sylvia Garcia joined iconic Illinois company Eli’s Cheesecake for a groundbreaking on its $9.5 million expansion on Chicago’s Northwest side. Supported by the state’s Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) program, the expansion will nearly double the size of its facility while adding new jobs and contributing to the local economy.     Village of Calumet Breaks Ground on
    Site of Major Redevelopment
     
     
     
     
    This week, DCEO joined the Village of Calumet Park and other partners to break ground on a brand-new commercial and residential space aimed at revitalizing the Ashland Avenue Commercial District. For the innovative project, the Village of Calumet received a $1.5 million Shovel Ready grant from the state as part of Governor Pritzker’s historic Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan. The project will add green space, shops and residential spaces and will contribute to the economic development of the area. Read more about the project here 
     
     
     
     
     
     
    Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program
    Celebrates HACIA Graduates
     
     
     
     
    DCEO Director Sylvia Garcia and Deputy Governor Andy Manar celebrated with Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship program graduates for the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association (HACIA). Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship program works to diversify the construction trades while providing opportunities for historically underrepresented populations.
