A nearly 70-year-old designer and distributor of power tools is getting a new headquarters complex outside Chicago.
The Opus Group this week broke ground on WEN Power Tools' new build-to-suit facility in the Oakview Corporate Park in West Dundee. WEN, a unit of construction tools and products provider Great Lakes Technologies, is set to more than triple its space with the move from nearby Elgin to its new 180,623-square-foot complex. The company is expected to relocate to its new facility in March 2021.
The development is the latest in the Oakview Corporate Park for Opus. In 2017, the Minneapolis-based firm completed headquarters projects for British engineering company Reinshaw Inc. and German lubricant specialist oelheld U.S. Inc.
WEN's distribution center, located off Interstate 90 on Wesemann Drive, has been designed to include a 1,900-square-foot showroom and 4,000 square feet of office space. The building will also feature 21 truck doors, two drive-in doors and a 32-foot clear height.
Additionally, there will be a nearly 2,000-square-foot future office build out on the north side of the building that WEN plans to lease on a short-term basis.
Opus is providing development services and is the design-builder, interior designer and architect and structural engineer of record. Eric Chang from U.S. Asia Investment Group, LLC represented WEN Power Tools and Noel Liston from Darwin Realty represented Opus.
