English as a Second Language Teachers
1) Part Time AM ESL Teacher Needed: Monday-Thursday 9:00-11:00AM
A four day per week, 9-11AM English as a Second Language (ESL) Teaching position has recently become available at the YWCA Elgin. The ESL teacher for this position would provide English only instruction to adults of all nationalities, teaching all four skills: reading, writing, speaking & listening guided by the YWCA Elgin curriculum and the particular needs/goals of students. A Bachelor Degree is required, preferably in Education, Linguistics, English or related field.
This is a wonderful teaching opportunity for anyone interested in teaching adults. Our students are typically eager to be in the classroom, well attended and most appreciative of the opportunity to attend class and learn about life in the USA.
We also offer an excellent, free preschool (age 6 weeks – 5yrs) spot on site, for the new ESL teacher’s child that coincides with the teaching time.

English as a Second Language Teachers Needed
The Illinois Community College Board funded Adult Education and Family Literacy Program at the YWCA Elgin will be in need of two part-time ESL teachers starting in September 2019 (PM teaching Staff Meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 26th 6-7:30PM - PM classes begin Monday & Tuesday, September 9 or 10th). ESL teachers at the YWCA Elgin provide English only instruction to limited English speaking adults of all nationalities teaching all 4 skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening.
ESL teacher opportunities are open for Monday & Wednesday nights 6:00-9:00PM or Tuesday & Thursday nights 6:00-9:00PM. This is a wonderful teaching opportunity for any former or current teacher who loves teaching, especially without behavior/attitude student issues. The adult students who attend our ESL program are typically hardworking, committed to class, eager to learn and grateful to have a caring teacher to help them.
