How ComEd Powers Equity: 2020 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Report
At ComEd, we hold ourselves accountable by documenting the actions we take to advance diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and celebrate employees who do the same in their communities. We make good on that commitment by publishing a report for our customers and stakeholders. This year the theme of our report is “Powering Equity”.
To us, powering equity means giving everyone the tools they need to have the same opportunity to succeed. At ComEd, we continue to create pathways to eliminate inequities in our communities through local partnerships. We strive to do the same in our places of work by creating a diverse environment that reflects our communities, an inclusive space where everyone can be their true self, and an equitable workplace where every voice is heard and valued.
In 2020, our employees came together and used their diverse talent to make a difference in our communities. Our customers and employees are one and the same—and our 6,200 hardworking employees are proud to serve others in the neighborhoods where they live, work and play.
Highlights of how we powered our communities in 2020:
- Our employees gave $1,167,939 in charitable contributions
- Our employees logged 11,535 volunteer hours in their communities
- ComEd spent $894 million, or 42% of its total supplier spend, with businesses owned by people of color, women and veterans – a year-over-year increase of $156 million
- Over $1.42 million in COVID-19 Relief Contributions
