Bring the family to enjoy Elgin radio shows as they really were. ETC will present three different classic radio programs:

Fibber Paints a Christmas Tree White - Fibber is too cheap to pay $10 for a white-painted Christmas tree and decides to do it himself with the expected comic consequences.
Miracle on 34th Street - In this Christmas classic, Doris Walker, a no-nonsense Macy's executive, desperately searches for a new store Santa. She hires Kris Kringle who insists that he's the real Santa Claus. But he has many skeptics, including Doris and her young daughter, Susan. So Kris must go to court to try and prove it. Is he the real Santa Claus?
A bit of nostalgic Elgin revisited for the holidays.
A Piece of My Heart
By Shirley Lauro
Suggested by the book by Keith Walker
February 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18, 2018
A Piece of My Heart is a collection of women’s experiences in the Vietnam War. It portrays a group of women, mainly nurses, and their stories that goes behind the scenes and shares their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. The strong undercurrent flowing throughout the individual the stories is the devotion that they have for the fighting soldiers. The soldiers are front and center in the war effort and in the nurses’ consciousness—their comfort, their needs, their struggles, and pain. The play also successfully portrays the overwhelming “fish out of water” feeling that the women felt in Vietnam, the atrocious working conditions, and the constant struggle to provide compassionate treatment. The play focuses on the women’s stories, their individual journeys and discoveries, and their camaraderie while helping each other in dangerous, confusing and complicated situations, in a fighting zone.
A Piece of My Heart is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
Dead Man’s Cell Phone
By Sarah Ruhl
June 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, and 17, 2018
Gordon is dead, but his cell phone lives on. When Jean, an empathetic museum worker, answers his ringing phone beside her in a café, she is soon playing unwitting comforter and confessor to the man’s grieving friends and family. Before she knows it, Jean’s ensnarled in the underbelly of the dead man’s life. The event turns out to be a wake-up call that sends her on a date with the dead man’s brother, a drinking binge with his wife, and a mysterious rendezvous with his mistress. Not to mention trips to the afterlife and the black market.
A wildly imaginative new comedy, Dead Man’s Cell Phone is the odyssey of a woman forced to confront her assumptions about morality, redemption, and the need to connect in a technologically-obsessed world.
Dead Man’s Cell Phone is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
