The expansive property currently housing the David C. Cook Publishing House in Elgin is poised to become the site of Elgin Area School District U-46’s newest elementary school. U-46 school board members have given their support to a purchase agreement for the property, spanning 9.16 acres at 850 N. Grove Ave., for $2.4 million.

The DuPage Court Revitalization work will continue the coming weeks. The project is expected to be completed in early summer with some areas opening earlier to allow for seating and use while the final project components, such as landscaping, are completed. As we near completion for the project, the final repair and replacement work at the Spring Street intersection is approaching.

The House returned to Springfield for this week's first day of session while the Senate will return tomorrow. Both chambers are scheduled to remain in session through Friday, the House's third reading deadline. Extensive time was spent on the floor in the early afternoon with a handful of committees taking place into the early evening. 31 bills passed the House today, relevant action is highlighted below.

The Senate was in Springfield for this week's first day of session while the House will not return until tomorrow. The early afternoon was spent on floor action, including the movement of numerous bills to third reading and bill passage. A number of amendments were adopted in committees today as well. The House and Senate will both return tomorrow, April 10th with the Senate beginning floor action at 11 am. Committee hearings will begin at 8 am.

Spring Session Update The House returned to Springfield on Tuesday for three busy days of session while today's action was canceled. Nearly 200 bills were moved out of committees over the past few days, plenty of which are relevant to the business community. The House committee deadline is today, Friday April 5th. Expect to see many of those bills that were moved out of committee to return with amendments.
